CEPF Project

Strengthening Sustainable Tourism

Despite being a high diversity zone and the entrance route to the Manu National Park, the Kosñipata - Carabaya area, in the region of Cusco, faces threats such as extensive agriculture, illegal logging and other human activities that put its potential for tourism activities at risk.

In recognition of this situation, it is necessary to develop entrepreneurial economic initiatives that will be compatible with conservation and at the same time sustainable in the long term. For this reason, the “Development of a Strategy to Strengthen Sustainable Tourism Initiatives in the Western Zone of the Kosñipata-Carabaya, Perú” project was begun in 2016 in the region.

This project will principally benefit businesses related to tourism in this area through creating a participatory tourism development plan and in the future, bringing together a network of local tourism operators.
