The Peru Program of Frankfurt Zoological Society

Helping preserve and protect mega biodiversity in the Eastern Andes Rainforest of Peru.

The global strategy of FZS is dedicated to two core goals:

  • Conservation of biodiversity
  • Protection of wilderness
Map Peru

Peru is one of the countries that has been selected for long term FZS projects on behalf of being mega-diverse and representing an extremely high diversity of flora and fauna species on the global level.

We have been working in Peru for more than 40 years and have confronted many challenges but we feel proud to contribute to the conservation of these awe-inspiring landscapes and ancestral culture.

The protected areas in which we work are comprised of immense, pristine areas of tropical forest that are some of the last refuges for un-contacted indigenous populations that choose to live isolated from the modern world.
